Goals & Benefits

  • At Pony Power our treatment strategy operates on two levels: the movement of the horse and the experience of a horse farm. We address the individual's needs physically, emotionally and behaviorally.
  • Physically when a rider is mounted and sitting in the correct position, the movement of the horse replicates a human's gait. The benefits of simulating a human gait are that it strengthens and develops muscles, hones balance and motor control, as well as addresses a myriad of processing issues.
  • Emotionally when the rider is at Pony Power he or she is participating in and attending through horseback riding and horsemanship experiences. These everyday activities create an environment for real and attainable goals specific to the individual, establish physical and mental challenges for the participant and provide the opportunity to develop and practice real life skills.
  • The therapeutic opportunities that are present in this unique farm environment are infinite.
